Newsletter: March 2014
The reunion committee has been busy planning the 35th reunion. The invitations were mailed out on March 6th with a stuffing party at Ruby Tuesdays on March 5th. We have been receiving donations (Thanks to Barb Rose-Rothenberg and other commitee members) to keep the reunions going, and we are planning either a scholarship or a donation to Norwood Promise to pay college tutions for Norwood School graduates. We are having a mixer again at the Mound on Friday August 8th and on the morning of the Reunion Saturday August 9th we will have the Middle and High schools open for tours. We would like to have everyone availble for a picture on the front stairs of the Middle (Jr. High) School at NOON just as we did in '79. We will have the Reunion that evening from 7:30pm until 11:30pm and on Sunday August 10th a picnic at Lower Millcrest Park Picnic Shelter. We will have an alcohol permit so your favorite beverage is OK to bring.
We encourage everyone to attend the tours of the Middle and High schools and check out the Alumni Room. There is so much history about Norwood Schools and the people of Norwood in that room alone, you could spend hours just looking and reminiscing.
July 2009
This was our 2nd to last meeting before the reunion with lots to talk about.
We need to give a final count to the venue 2 weeks before the event with payment.
Other details for the Memory Table and Bid and Buy table were discussed as well as the split the pots at the reunion and mixer to help pay for that night.
We will be having Bryant Photography at the Reunion as they are Norwood graduates so photos will be available for ordering after the reunion.
We had a very good showing of committee members and classmates which made the meeting at the Mound like a mini reunion. (Sorry you all missed it!)
Our last meeting before the reunion will be at Sherry Stargle's house to finalize the donations for the bid and buy table and tie up any loose ends.
The committee is very excited that this will be a memorable event! See you at the reunion!
November 2008
Reunion Committee Meets to Address Postcards for Mailing.
The committee met to complete our first mailing of postcards for the reunion. About 240 postcards were mailed and 85 sent via email.
Please keep your email current and contact the committee if anything changes.
Thanks to the Brooks family for hosting this meeting. The food was wonderful and festivities great!
Thanks to our room mother (Gwynne Gabbard) for delicious cupcakes and the welcome home to the Brooks!
The mailing is complete and we are already getting responses.
To reserve your spot at the reunion please mail your money ASAP to assist with the treasury as we need to pay half of the cost for the hall in January!
The committee will meet again in January! So we wish everyone Happy and Safe Holidays!
Reunion Committee is Meeting to Finalize
the Venue for
30 year
The committee has met 3 times to discuss planning the 30 year reunion.
We have made site visits and will be meeting again September 24th to decide the venue.
The committee considered using the Holy Trinity Hall again. But the building was sold and they are no longer renting it out.
We have listed the pros and cons of the facilities that were visited and will be comparing to make the decision. We need to make the decision as soon as possible because the dates are filling up quick for weddings at that time of year.
The class website
It was decided by the committee to start a web site to keep in touch with classmates.
We need your feedback to make this successful.
What do you want to see on this site?
Do you want any personal information like your name and or home address or email address? This could be a great way to stay in touch with all your classmates!
Posting pictures of previous reunions and possibly old class pictures as they are submitted by you? Go down memory lane!
The Memorial page to honor our deceased classmates. This is a must.
Maybe a Veteran page to honor our classmates that have or are serving in the military?
Your Feedback is REALLY needed!
This site will be a work in progress for some time as we have time to work on it so don’t be shy we will consider all suggestions!
